Gayle Hazelwood welcomes you,
to a mobile, telehealth, and telephone therapy service for Townsville adults experiencing changes in their swallowing and communication functioning due to illness, the effects of surgery, trauma, or changes to function in later life.
I have 30+ years of combined Speech Pathology and Nursing knowledge and experience working with adults in government and private hospitals, community settings, residential aged care, hospice, and palliative care in the UK and Australia.
My passion is people. I promote positive ageing and self-determination in your healthcare decision-making. Your health is important whether you are 21, 41, or 91. If you struggle to get involved in conversations due to word-finding difficulties, have a quiet voice, avoid eating with friends because you cough, or when you eat and drink and are the last to finish, I can help.
I provide a person-centred, evidence-based approach that puts you in charge of therapy that is unique to you. I work with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, social workers, and psychologists and may recommend them to maximise your health management.
My Aim:
To equip you with the tools you need to understand how your body functions, how your health conditions impact your swallow and/or communication, and ways to improve.
Therapy is simple, functional and easy to apply to your life because: “Life is therapy, and therapy is life.”
